Search Consultancy's Construction and Trades Division is currently partnering with a premier mechanical services subcontractor to recruit a time-served, highly skilled Commercial Plumber for an active, large-scale care home construction project located in Hebburn.
This is a live, fast-paced commercial construction site, offering an immediate start and an exceptional, tiered overtime pay structure. The project is currently moving through critical installation phases, demanding an operative who can hit the ground running, work efficiently to mechanical specifications, and maintain high production rates alongside other site trades. Lucrative Tiered Remuneration (CIS)
This project features an excellent premium pay structure to reward hard work, extended midweek hours, and weekend shifts. All rates are paid gross on a subcontractor basis:

Basic Rate (First 37 Midweek Hours): £24.00 per hour

Comprehensive Key Responsibilities
Operating within a busy commercial site footprint, your daily schedule will demand high efficiency, technical competence, and seamless collaboration with site management and the mechanical foreman. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

First & Second Fix Installations: Installing commercial plumbing systems, including copper and plastic pipework, soil and waste systems, sanitary ware, and drainage configurations across individual resident rooms and communal facility blocks.

Plant Room & System Rough-Ins: Assisting with the installation of commercial heating systems, hot and cold water distribution loops, plant room pipework, and booster sets.

Thermostatic Control Installation: Fitting and configuring Thermostatic Mixing Valves (TMVs) and modern healthcare-spec brassware according to strict project design layouts.

Technical Blueprint Reading: Interpreting complex mechanical drawings, schematic layouts, and technical specifications to measure, route, and bracket pipework accurately and efficiently.

Testing & Commissioning Preparation: Conducting pressure testing of installations, systematically identifying and resolving any leaks or pressure drops prior to second-fix closures.

Health & Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to site safety protocols, maintaining a clean and organised working bay, managing materials efficiently to reduce waste, and working safely alongside other active trades.
Rigid Candidate Requirements
To maintain the high standards required on this project, candidates must explicitly meet the following criteria prior to deployment:

Valid Certification: Must hold a valid CSCS card (Skilled Worker preferred) or a JIB-PMES registration card. This is mandatory for site access and will be verified beforehand.

Industry Experience: A proven, demonstrable track record working as a commercial plumber on live construction sites, new build developments, or large-scale commercial fit-outs.

Qualifications: Time-served or relevant NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds qualifications in Plumbing and Domestic/Commercial Heating.

Complete Trade Kit: Possession of a full, professional kit of hand tools, testing equipment, and cordless power tools suitable for commercial construction installations.

Full 5-Point PPE: Ownership of standard site protective equipment (Hard hat, high-vis jacket/vest, steel toe-cap boots with adequate ankle support, protective gloves, and safety glasses).

Professional References: Ability to provide the contact details of a recent Site Manager, mechanical foreman, or supervisor who can verify your quality of work, speed, and attendance.
