About this role

We're working with a prominent care provider in the West Midlands to recruit a Senior Positive Behaviour Specialist. The role involves spearheading a comprehensive Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategy across national care schemes, focusing on supported living and step-down services for individuals with learning disabilities, mental health needs and challenging behaviours.


Overview of Role:


* Launch and develop a robust, tailored and holistic PBS strategy for services
* Conduct functional assessments to understand the reasons behind challenging behaviours
* Focus on individual differences, diagnoses, psychological and physical health needs, and personal history
* Develop Behaviour Support Plans (BSP)
* Collaborate with individuals, families, and professionals to identify interventions through BSPs
* Document interventions that enhance daily lives, build new skills, and address emotional and physical needs


Intervention Evaluation:
* Evaluate the effects of BSPs and conduct ongoing monitoring.
* Provide fair and balanced feedback and support to individuals and professionals.


Training and Support:
* Provide 1-1 training, advice, and support to carers and social care professionals
* Developing the PBS training strategy and audit the quality of training delivered
* Upskill and nurture colleagues to become 'PBS Champions' to embed strategy


Service Monitoring and Development:
* Monitor the effectiveness of the PBS service according to KPIs and framework measures
* Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of local resources and collaborate with teams and services
Collaboration and Networking:
* Collaborate with Bid Team, Commissioners and Operational Teams


What Experience Do you need?
* Health and social care background
* Extensive experience with vulnerable adults, especially those with complex intellectual disabilities
* Supervisory experience, coaching, and mentoring staff
* Working with individuals and families facing challenging situations
* Proficient in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) framework, theory, evidence base, and system-wide approaches
* Skillful in conducting Functional Assessments and developing Behaviour Support Plans
* Proficient in PBS framework, theory, and practice, including PBS competencies
* Knowledge of legal frameworks related to physical interventions
* Collaborative, approachable, and communicative, both within a team and independently
* Acts with integrity, contributes to service development, and embraces change
* Highly organised with a solution-focused, logical, and innovative approach


Education & Qualifications:
Essential: MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Working towards becoming a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA) by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board.
