About this role

Registered Manager - Children's Residential Service (Autism Specialist)

Are you an inspiring leader ready to shape a brand-new, purpose-built home for young people with Autism?

We're seeking a Registered Manager to launch and lead our new 4-bed residential facility in Exeter, part of an established, values-driven organisation. This is more than management-it's a chance to build a culture from the ground up, ensuring exceptional care and life-changing outcomes for young people with complex needs.

Salary: Up to £55,000 (depending on experience)
Role: Full-time | Ofsted-regulated | On-call required

Your Impact:

  • Be the heartbeat of the home-oversee day-to-day operations across two adjoining bungalows, ensuring safety, compliance, and outstanding care.

  • Lead by example, mentoring a dedicated team to deliver trauma-informed, autism-specific support with empathy and professionalism.

  • Champion safeguarding as the service's lead, ensuring every young person's physical, emotional, and social needs are met.

  • Design personalised care plans with therapeutic approaches, regularly reviewing progress with staff, families, and multi-agency partners.

  • Drive quality through audits, staff training, and collaborative relationships with healthcare/education providers.

  • Manage resources wisely-balance budgets, rotas, and maintenance while keeping the home nurturing and homely.

What You'll Bring:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) and hands-on experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy in Ofsted-regulated settings.

  • Proven expertise supporting young people with Autism-you understand sensory needs, communication strategies, and de-escalation techniques.

  • Resilience and vision-you'll navigate challenging behaviours while fostering a positive, inclusive team culture.

  • Compliance know-how-deep knowledge of Children's Homes Regulations, safeguarding frameworks, and therapeutic best practices.

  • A collaborative spirit-you'll build trust with families, social workers, and staff, ensuring seamless care transitions.

Why This Role Stands Out:

  • Pioneer a new service-shape its ethos, practices, and legacy from day one.

  • Autonomy with support-join an established company with resources to help you succeed.

  • Growth-focused-lead a team where training and innovation are prioritised.

This is your opportunity to create a home where young people with Autism don't just cope, they thrive!
