About this role

An industry-leading contractor specialising in railway infrastructure is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join their dynamic team in Scotland. This is a key opportunity to work on major electrification and rail infrastructure projects across the region, with a company known for delivering high-profile schemes safely, efficiently, and to the highest technical standards

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will take a lead role in engineering management and delivery across rail electrification projects - ensuring designs are compliant, installations meet quality expectations, and works progress in line with safety and regulatory standards. You will work closely with project management, design teams, and construction colleagues to drive engineering excellence from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide engineering leadership across the full project lifecycle
* Ensure technical compliance with all relevant standards, including Network Rail and industry-specific regulations
* Review and approve designs, supporting constructability and innovation
* Lead interface management between design, construction, and third parties
* Act as CRE (Contractor's Responsible Engineer) where required
* Champion safety, quality, and environmental best practices
* Support junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing team culture

Requirements:

* Proven experience in a senior engineering role within the rail industry - ideally electrification (OLE, HV, or power systems)
* Strong understanding of Network Rail standards and CRE responsibilities
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Ability to manage engineering risk and deliver technical assurance
* Chartered status or working towards (preferred)

Why Apply!

* Opportunity to work on nationally significant infrastructure projects
* Supportive and progressive environment, with real scope for development
* Competitive salary package, including car allowance and generous benefits
* Hybrid working with flexible arrangements available

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and technically skilled individual to take the next step in their rail engineering career with a highly respected principal contractor.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age.
