Our client, an award-winning luxury wellness retreat based near Upminster, Essex, is looking to appoint a professional and experienced Duty Manager to join their growing team on a permanent part-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment and enjoys leading teams to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
The Role
As Duty Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth day-to-day operation of the retreat, ensuring the highest standards of guest service are maintained across all departments. You will lead and support the wider team, promote a positive service culture, and act as the main point of contact during your shift.
The successful candidate will also support the Front of House team with reservations and help oversee the complete guest journey, ensuring every visitor enjoys a seamless and memorable experience from arrival through to departure.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operation of the retreat across multiple departments.
- Lead, motivate and support team members to deliver outstanding customer service.
- Maintain high operational and presentation standards throughout the site.
- Assist with reservations and Front of House operations when required.
- Handle guest enquiries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently.
- Make informed operational decisions in the absence of senior management.
- Support the achievement of operational and financial objectives.
- Ensure exceptional guest satisfaction at every stage of the customer journey.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience in a Duty Manager, Supervisor or similar hospitality management position.
- Strong knowledge of the hospitality or hotel industry.
- Experience leading and developing teams.
- Excellent customer service and complaint resolution skills.
- Good commercial awareness and financial understanding.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Confidence making decisions in a busy operational environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hospitality booking or reservation systems.
- The ability to remain calm and organised under pressure.
Working Hours
This is a permanent part-time position, working 3 days per week on a flexible rota covering Monday to Sunday.
Applicants must be fully flexible to work a variety of shifts, including:
- Early: 7:00am - 4:00pm
- Mid: 8:00am - 5:00pm
- Late: 11:00am - 8:00pm
Weekend working is required, with a minimum of two weekends per month.
