About this role
Search are supporting the recruitment of a Bookkeeper to join our client's Edinburgh office with hybrid working. This is a varied and hands-on role, ideal for someone who enjoys working across finance, administration, and office operations. You'll play a key part in keeping the business running smoothly, with responsibilities spanning bookkeeping, payroll, HR admin, and supplier coordination.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Managing daily financial transactions, including sales and purchase invoices
* Preparing monthly financial reports and reconciling bank and credit card statements
* Completing VAT and CIS returns
* Processing weekly and monthly payroll, issuing payslips, and recording pension contributions
* Supporting HR administration including onboarding, maintaining training records, and verifying CIS subcontractors
* Overseeing company vehicle administration (MOTs, servicing, etc.)
* Managing staff records (holidays, sick leave, etc.)
* Handling general office duties including calls, emails, banking, and filing
* Ensuring timely renewal of insurance policies and completion of ONS surveys
* Monitoring mobile phone and utility contracts
* Submitting CITB levy returns and completing PQQ and supplier account forms
Skills and experience that will benefit your application:

* Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
* Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
