The Opportunity

Search Consultancy is looking for an experienced Telehandler Operator for a busy construction project in Amble. This is a rare Temp-to-Perm opportunity, making it ideal for a dependable driver seeking long-term job security and a permanent contract with a well-established regional main contractor.

Starting immediately on a trial period via Search at £22.00 per hour (CIS), successful candidates who demonstrate strong site awareness, punctuality, and machine care will be offered a direct permanent position with the client.

Your Role & Responsibilities

Operating on an active development site in Amble, your daily duties will include:

• Safe Plant Operation: Safely operating telescopic handlers to transport, load, and unload materials across site terrain.

• Material Logistics: Offloading deliveries promptly and distributing pallets, timber, masonry, and heavy components efficiently to trade teams at height or at ground level.

• Daily Inspections: Performing routine pre-start plant checks (fluids, hydraulics, tires, safety devices) and reporting any mechanical issues to site management immediately.

• Banksman Coordination: Working closely with ground staff, banksmen, and site supervisors to maintain strict exclusion zones and safe lifting operations.

• General Site Support: Assisting with general site organisation or helping out on the ground when the machine is stationary, keeping the site running smoothly.

What We're Looking For

To satisfy strict client health and safety standards, applicants must possess:

• Plant Ticket: A valid CPCS or NPORS card with the Telescopic Handler (Telehandler) category.

• Medical Certification: An active Safety Critical Medical certificate is strictly mandatory for site clearance.

• Proven Experience: Demonstrable history operating telehandlers safely on busy residential or commercial construction sites.

• PPE & Transport: Standard 5-point hard hat, high-vis, steel toe cap boots, gloves, and reliable transport to reach the Amble site daily.

• Right to Work: Valid proof of right to work in the UK.
