We are thrilled to be working closely with our client, a globally renowned manufacturing business, recruiting for a Head of Manufacturing Operations, as part of their succession plan as this incredible business heads towards an exciting period of growth and investment.
Your New Role
* To support the Managing Director in Tactical implementation and Strategy formation in all operational activities.
* Drive continuous improvement throughout warehouse and production operations which will underpin the company's future expectations.
* To identify, understand and proactively implement appropriate solutions for operational issues or concerns and communicate them to the appropriate level throughout the business
* To forward plan in anticipation of potential issues, whilst ensuring operational KPIs are achieved
* To drive the company's safety culture to achieve excellence in safety and environment
* To ensure the company achieves and maintains relevant external accreditation for Safety / Quality and Environmental
* To seek out opportunities, considering and evaluating risk in order to enhance results, including generating creative solutions to ensure they deliver best-in class while managing operational risk
* To deliver effective cost control through budgetary planning and P&L management
* To be responsible for Site security and facilities management
Job Accountabilities
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and where applicable design and implement new ones
* Take responsibility to develop, lead and coach team, to minimise 'gaps' in staff job specific knowledge; including preparation of succession planning
* Control stock inventory using appropriate PI and stock take cycles thereby minimising stock loss and impacts on operational efficiency
* Ensure a culture of continuous development is developed and maintained across the business
* Deliver and improve department KPIs and take action quickly to ensure acceptable performance levels are achieved within budget and on-time.
* Plan, to budget, shift operational requirements including manpower planning
* Manage workforce including guidance, coaching, appraisals, training and employee relations to ensure we maximise resources to effectively deliver performance
* Integrate departments to ensure the operation runs to maximum efficiency
* Integrate and streamline supply chain activities to facilitate accurate forward planning and maximise efficient use of resources
* Understand and analyse issues and generate alternative solutions whilst realising the wider implications of their decisions
* Respond to changing priorities; balance multiple activities and competing priorities whilst remaining effective in all
* Develop, improve and maintain clear and well understood inter-departmental communications within the business
* Show ownership of problems and issues through proactive solution identification and determination to deliver the end goal within agreed timescales
* Lead by example, taking a "hands on approach to getting the job done", showing a genuine enthusiasm for their role and the company
* Be responsible for ensuring the team delivers superior quality of service to meet or exceed customer expectations
* Ensure staff maintain an acceptable timekeeping & attendance record, taking action to resolve where required by following employment best practice
* Be responsible for personal development
* Oversee the planned maintenance of all relevant vehicles / equipment in accordance with the relevant legislation
Your Specific Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Qualifications
* Educated to Degree Level or equivalent (Desirable)
* FMCG background
* IOSH or equivalent (Desirable)
Your Experience
* Experience in a senior management role gained in a Production / Distribution / FMCG environment
* Experienced in managing companies experiencing rapid growth
* Excellent PC knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Knowledge of using and implementing complex management systems (WMS, ERP etc)
* Proven track record of coaching, developing and team building
* Experience of Site move/reorganisation/major change a distinct advantage
* Experienced in implementing and managing within a framework of ISO accreditation
