We're looking for a highly organised and motivated Assistant Buyer to join our Procurement team. This is an excellent opportunity to build your career with a respected construction company delivering high-profile residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects across the UK.

Working alongside experienced Buyers and the wider Commercial team, you'll play a key role in ensuring materials, plant, and subcontract services are procured efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support Buyers with the procurement of construction materials, plant, and subcontract packages.
  • Obtain and compare supplier quotations to achieve the best value.
  • Raise purchase orders and ensure they are processed accurately and on time.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Monitor delivery schedules and resolve any supply issues proactively.
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and supplier information.
  • Assist with supplier performance reviews and cost analysis.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Support sustainability and value engineering initiatives where appropriate.

About You:

You'll be an organised individual with excellent communication skills and a keen eye for detail. Whether you're already working in a buying role or looking to progress from an administrative or commercial support position within construction, you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working collaboratively.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience in a purchasing, procurement, buying, or commercial support role.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Desirable
  • Experience within the construction, house building, or civil engineering sector.
  • Knowledge of procurement systems or ERP software.
  • Understanding of construction materials and supply chains.
  • Working towards or interested in studying for CIPS qualifications.
