Search Driving has been a standalone specialism within Search Consultancy since 2007 and since then we’ve really become a driving force within this area of the recruitment industry. We’ve grown dramatically in the intervening eight years and now supply driving staff to some of the largest logistics companies in the UK.
Key to our success are our strong client relationships and our team of experienced consultants who have vast amounts of knowledge within the driving recruitment industry from Inverness & Dunfermline in Scotland, down through to Liverpool and Leicester in England. This specialist knowledge means that we’re able to provide all clients - large or small - with the same professional service.
As the UK’s leading driving recruitment agency with offices in major UK cities and we offer a flexible service with day, night and weekend shifts, suiting clients and drivers alike.
Our flexible approach has proved a big hit with our existing clients for whom we find drivers who can work a variety of shift patterns. Our clients include many global market leaders within the logistics sectors who require contractual and perm workers with the following qualifications and experien
LGV C&E (Class 1)
LGV C (Class 2)
7.5 tonne drivers
We can also help you find drivers throughout the UK with the following specialist qualifications:
ADR (tankers and package)
FLT drivers (counter and reach)
When clients turn to driving recruitment agencies it’s usually because there is a requirement for drivers for large vehicles. Large goods vehicle (LGV) drivers - also known as HGV drivers - transport and deliver goods and raw materials across the UK and overseas. The vehicles they drive can be transporting anything from fuel for petrol stations to foodstuffs and household items for supermarkets.
At Search we source drivers who are used to operating alone, utilising their driving skills and enjoy travelling all over the UK and beyond. All of our drivers are over 18 and hold a full car licence, and are based right across the length and breadth of the country. Many of our drivers have also undergone LGV training and have gained a Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
HGV and LGV drivers
At Search’s HGV recruitment agencies, we recognise that our workforce needs to be completely flexible and our drivers are used to operating from depots, distribution centres and warehouses, transporting goods all over the UK and internationally.
Our LGV drivers specialise in driving commercial vehicles over 7.5 tonnes, including rigid trucks, articulated lorries, tankers, transporters and trailer wagons. In addition to driving, our workforce has experience in planning delivery schedules and journeys in conjunction with transport managers and other logistics professionals, supervising and helping to load the vehicle with goods and subsequently unloading the lorry.
They also take responsibility for ensuring that loads on their vehicles are safely secured and are experienced enough to deviate from their planned route if necessary due to traffic and road incidents. Furthermore, our drivers have high levels of literacy and numeracy meaning that they can complete delivery paperwork and log books as required, in addition to their vehicular knowledge which allows them to deal with basic checks and repairs such as checking oil levels, tyre pressure and brake pads before and after any journey.
Our HGV driver recruitment professionals meet all of our candidates face to face for a full interview and complete the following checks prior to starting work. This includes the following:
- Reference checks
- Licence checks (completed at regular intervals)
- Medical declaration
- Driving declaration
- Proof of eligibility to work and identity
- Written assessment (general knowledge & driving rules)
Throughout the UK, from Aberdeen,Dundee and Glasgow through to Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Crawley, the demand for LGV drivers is huge. At Search Consultancy, we are fortunate to have a large pool of experienced, qualified and flexible drivers who can commit to temp driving roles at short notice and with a large geographical scope.

Industry studies have shown that between 45,000 and 60,000 LGV and HGV drivers are required between now and the year 2020.
Our clients include freight distribution companies, supermarkets, major retail chains, raw materials suppliers and manufacturers. Many of the driving candidates on our books are experienced hauliers and distributors and some of them have management experience in addition to their driving skills having previously overseen fleets.
Our candidates often have extensive exposure to logistics, transport planning and freight management and bring their experience to their assignments at Search.
Our drivers have agreed, via a collective workforce agreement, to manage the working time hours over a 26-week reference period and all have opted out of the Night Workers Agreement. All of our consultants have knowledge of the Road Transport Regulations, which apply across the UK from Aberdeen and Inverness down to Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.
