About the Role
As Registered Manager, you'll lead a warm, nurturing home where young people are safe, supported, and empowered to achieve outcomes that are meaningful to them. You'll ensure the highest standards of care, inspire your team, and take ownership of every aspect of the home's operation.
What You'll Be Doing
Leadership & Team Management
- Providing visible, inspiring leadership and guidance to your team
- Managing colleague performance, appraisals, supervisions and personal development plans
- Leading team meetings, therapeutic consultations and inductions
- Promoting a culture of high expectations, collaboration and continuous improvement
- Managing whistleblowing concerns and ensuring they are recorded and reported correctly
Care Practice
- Safeguarding and actively promoting the welfare of young people
- Providing nurturing, therapeutic, child-centred care that supports each young person's development and sense of identity
- Working with consistent boundaries to create safety and stability
- Contributing to care planning, reviews and multi-agency meetings
- Liaising with schools, social workers and other professionals to achieve the best outcomes
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensuring the home operates in line with Children's Homes Regulations and Quality Standards
- Completing monthly Reg 45 reports and submitting to Ofsted within timescales
- Supporting Reg 44 visits and Responsible Individual audits, addressing actions promptly
- Facilitating Ofsted inspections and responding to all recommendations
- Maintaining accurate recording and reporting systems across the team
Financial & Environment Management
- Managing budgets, petty cash and expenditure in line with financial procedures
- Monitoring agency use, occupancy levels and resource allocation
- Maintaining a safe, homely environment that meets health, safety and regulatory requirements
- Overseeing maintenance, facilities management and the upkeep of the home and grounds
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience in children's residential care, including management
- Level 3 Diploma in Children's and Young People's Workforce (essential)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Residential Children's Services (essential or willingness to work towards)
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding, relevant legislation and the statutory framework for residential care
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence
