Transport Planner


£25,000 - £29,000

Wrexham, North Wales

Key Responsibilities

  • Arranging and planning for all orders within the fleet manually
  • Planning for 60 Class 1 and Class 2 Vehicles
  • Ensure work is planned effectively and allocate resources in a cost effective manner
  • Route planning for a fleet of Arctic's and Rigids
  • Arrange back loads and collections for general haulage and trunk operation
  • Supervising and managing driver workloads
  • Monitoring driver whereabouts and the number of driver hours in line with the working directive
  • Debriefing drivers, customer contact, query resolution
  • Maintain and build strong relationships with both internal departments and vendors
  • Work closely with the Transport Compliance Manager to ensure all industry health and safety and compliance is adhered to.
  • Focal point for both external and internal customer contact with regards to transport issues

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working within a busy Transport & Logistics office as a Transport Planner
  • Multi-drop transport planning and ability to re-route at short notice
  • General haulage and multi-drop experience (desirable)
  • A comprehensive understanding of EU Drivers' Hours Regulations
  • Experienced within interacting with drivers
  • A strong understanding of Microsoft Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • An excellent grasp of UK road transport network
  • Customer focused with strong customer service skills
  • Self-starter who works well on their own initiative and under pressure
  • Team player with a hands-on approach
  • Willingness to go the extra mile for business and customer needs
  • Logical way of thinking
  • Computer literate
  • CPC (Desirable)
