You enter the home for your shift, you are greeted with a warm hello from the staff and a couple of the residents are in the front hallway waiting for you. They are pleased to see you as they remember you from when you were there before. They ask how are you and what have you been doing , you stop and have a chat with them then tell them that you will be back soon as you need to go and have a handover . You go into the office and receive a thorough handover, you are assigned to Bill to support. You are told that Bill knows that you are going to be working with him today and he is looking forward to seeing you. You are also told that he needs to go into town shopping for new clothes and while you are out he would like to stop and have a coffee in the coffee shop. You collect some money from the office for the shopping then you go and see Bill. He is pleased to see you and you explain that you are going to be taking him shopping. You have a chat about what he would like to buy and where he would like to go and have a coffee, you talk about how you are going to get there and give Bill the option of going by bus or taxi. Bill opts for the bus as he enjoys travelling on the bus, he gets his coat and off you go. On the way to the bus stop Bill chats excitedly to you about the trip. When the bus arrives you get on the bus and travel into town. You complete the shopping with Bill and stop at the coffee shop for a drink. After this you both head back to the home on the bus. When you get back to the home Bill excitedly shows the other residents and staff what he has bought and tells them what he has been doing.
You complete the rest of your shift helping Bill prepare a meal, have a bath and get ready for bed, at the end of your shift you are tired but happy, you have had a lovely day supporting Bill to be as independent as possible in the community.
