Service Desk Engineer (Level 1 Hosting)
One of the UK's largest connectivity and cloud service providers is hiring once more for their growing team, just on the outskirts of Manchester city centre.
This is an opportunity to help the business operate at their full potential, which will have a tangible effect on their ability to provide global network coverage and superfast connection speeds, and save their clients from whatever technical disasters may befall them.
What will I be doing?
You'll join the 1st Line Service Desk team on the side of the business that predominately deals with Hosting and Cloud services.
You'll act as the first point of contact for all customer queries when it comes to their hosting, break-fix and managed service products. You'll work to strict SLAs, triaging tickets as they arrive and escalating them to the 2nd or 3rd Line if necessary.
You'll also assist customers when it comes to change requests or addition of new services to their package, and will proactively monitor the solutions to ensure any events are captured before they become an incident.
That sounds interesting, but am I who they're looking for?
You might be - they're ideally looking for someone who has a few months' experience in a similar technical environment, so that would be a first tick in the box.
If you're committed to self-improvement then that's another tick for you. This business succeeds because of their employees, and so they will put a lot of time and effort into making sure your skills keep developing and that you can move up the ranks of the company to make a real career for yourself.
You'll need to bring good communication skills to the table also - you'll be working with customers after all. You won't be hidden away. You could be talking to anyone, so the ability to strike up quick rapport with customers is a real catch.
Do I need technical knowledge for the role?
A bit yes, preferably with:
* Windows Servers - basic administration and maintenance
* Hardware failures
* Mail Servers
* DNS & IP
* Apache / MySQL - knowledge of these will do fine
* Linux Servers - these are nice to have though, not essential
Anything else I should know about the role?
Well, you'll want to know the salary, surely. Alongside your benefits, you can expect to receive a salary of up to £25,000 per annum.
This role operates as part of a 24/7 Service Desk team also - so there are 3 shift patterns to be covered, that will be arranged in good time. You will be expected to to work a night shift for 1 week out of every 6.
I can do that, so what now?
Now? Send me your CV as soon as you can. If you've got it ready to go, great! Click apply and send it through for immediate consideration.
