£12.60 - £15.69 per hour

An exciting opportunity within the SEN Assessment Team is available.

Would you enjoy working and supervising the delivery of effective and timely performance of statutory assessment of special education needs ensuring compliance with SEND functions in line with legislation, government guidance, council policy and good practice?

We are looking for people with experience of ensuring delivery of quality, value for money and effective services to improve outcomes for children and young people with Special Education Needs and Disabilities.

The role is on a temporary basis. Working pattern is full time hours - Monday - Friday 8.45am - 5pm.

This role is an Office Based Worker. Many services and customers span across the Borough and therefore you may be required to work at any location in Cheshire West and Chester.


Principal Responsibilities of the role:

1 Manage the SEN Support officers to ensure SEN services are fully compliant with statutory processes and are in accordance with local authority policies and procedures

2 Supervise enquiries and contact with the SEN team to provide appropriate advice and customer service to parents, young people education providers at point of contact ensuring timely, appropriate response from SEN support officers. Ensure that all contact has accountable audit trail

3 Coordinate placement requests , reviews and actions for vulnerable groups of learners with SEND to include learners who are Electively Home Educated (EHE) attend Alternative Provision (AP) or Independent Non Maintained Schools (INMSS), or who personal budgets or bespoke packages of education provision

4 Coordinate SEN decision making panels, providing quality assurance for all initial requests and ensure that all business actions are processed correctly within statutory timescales

5 Coordinate all requests for SEN provision in borough, including removals in and other Local Authority requests for places, ensuring information is shared with appropriate phase manager and response and actions are taken in timely fashion

6 Provide initial response to customer complaints and MPs letters in accordance with council policy

7 Review EHCPs of learners with SEND who move into the borough and draft transfer to CWAC format highlighting areas that need further information to amend appropriately to the phase manager
8 Supervise eligibility assessments for assisted transport for learners with SEND and identify request Independent travel training for students with EHCPs in accordance with council policy

9 Contribute to SEND service development
