Role: Risk and Research Analyst
Location: Brighton, UK

My client is looking for a Risk and Research Analyst to specify, lead, and deliver complex projects; from external contracts to consultants. The candidate will be meticulous with a keen eye for detail, ideally with experience in coaching capability/quality assurance to less experienced analysts. * Managing and delivering projects involving the development and use of high quality statistical models derived from complex data
* Using statistical and analytical software, including SAS BASE / STAT, to undertake bivariate / multivariate statistical modelling, time series analysis and forecasting, reporting and evaluation work using continuous, categorical, ordinal and/or censored/truncated data
* Managing external relationships with providers and other stakeholders, ensuring that external suppliers work to expectations on quality, budget and deadlines
* Designing, developing, and delivering solo and team projects; leading and supporting multi-disciplinary teams, including members from external consultancies and other agencies
* Formulating hypotheses and devising and delivering projects in order to test them, including the statistical design of experiments
* Responsible for peer reviews and quality check statistical analysis carried out by less experienced members of the team; mentoring less experienced members of the team
* Delivering forecasts on asset returns and market volumes in light of current and forecasted economic conditions
* Contributing to and maintaining a database of business-as-usual SAS code
* Contributing to and/or taking responsibility for business-as-usual MI and reports on financial and pensions markets, the economy, and TPR business performance
* Respond constructively to team management, leadership and project management
* Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders within and outside TPR

Skills and Criteria:
* Experience of Base SAS and STAT in a work environment; experience of a cross-section of other standard statistical and analytical packages, such as Matlab, EViews and Stata desirable
* Experience of developing and testing time series and forecasting models; ideally have experience of developing panel data models
* Experience in a commercial context of experimental design to target specific business objectives desirable
* Experience of best practice model validation, evaluation and performance tracking in a commercial environment
* Work experience in applying analytical rigour to develop evidence-driven insights and drive business aims
* Experience of drawing data from relational databases, and of transforming data and merging tables using SAS and/or SQL
* Experience of cleansing and reconciliation of large data sets (>105 records) using a programming language (e.g. SAS, PL/SQL, VBA)
* Experience in spreadsheet modelling in Excel or VBA
* Ability to prioritize and use initiative
