The residential market in Yorkshire is currently very busy and a large number of contractors are benefiting. One such contractor, with a busy office in East Leeds, is at the point where they need to start growing their team and one of the first positions that has been highlighted is that of a Quantity Surveyor.

Reporting to the Directors the role will have 2 main functions:

Firstly, and this is the exciting bit, you will be the sole company QS and will be responsible for setting up robust systems that can be developed and adapted as the company grows. With the company going through a development phase right now it's important to get things right at this stage to avoid any unnecessary exposure to risk further down the line.

Secondly you will be responsible for managing the day to day budgets assigned to each site under your control, this will include supporting operations in civil engineering, excavation and remediation. This will require an understanding of the NEC3 form of contract and a good level of communication with operational teams to ensure everyone is aware of budgetary restraints and that any variations or compensation events are logged with the client in a timely manner. You will also be in close contact with the sales teams so you have a full understanding of the quotations they are working with. As this is a new role for the office you will also be required to set up systems that can be replicated for all future projects from a cradle to grave perspective.

To be successful in the role you will need to provide a CV that can demonstrate:
* Experience of working in a similar environment
* An ability to work with the NEC form of contract
* A qualification in a relevant subject (e.g. HNC Quantity Surveying)
* A good working knowledge of MS Excel
