Job Title: Quality Manager
Location: Harlow
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 P/A - Pending on experience
Working Pattern - Mon-Fri


Overview
Search are currently working with a leading food manufacturing business. My client has a fantastic opportunity for a Quality Manager with a good understanding of food safety standards as well as BRCGS. This role reports into the Technical Manager, This is a great opportunity for a Technical candidate who takes pride in ensuring all products are of the highest quality.


Job Purpose
Assess customer requirements and ensure that these are met, through proactive team engagement and management of the QA function involving demonstration of high levels of expertise in customer facing, monitoring of product intake quality and influencing the operations team provide effective quality assurance management and monitoring processes. To ensure that all products dispatched meet customer specifications. This role will involve cross-functional working with the technical and commercial departments.


Main Roles and Responsibilities:
* Ensure sufficient and effective monitoring systems are in place so that all products packaged and dispatched meet customer specifications. Prepare samples for customers and internal bench marking.
* Effective management of the QA function enabling team KPI's to be met. Regular individual and team meetings to drive forward efficiency and better ways of working.
* Ensure effective and regular communication with supervisors / managers across all departments on matters concerning the quality of the product intake, growing and harvest operations, technical processes, campsite, and HR procedures.
* Design and implement appropriate procedures, processes, scheduled monitoring and auditing activities to ensure the compliance system is market leading. Creating training matrix, hazard reviews, risk assessments through the compliance of BRC standards.
* Policies & Rules & Procedures -Ensure compliance to all Company and Statutory Rules, Policies and Procedures as well as to customer's standards and specifications.
* Regularly monitor and review micro and pesticide samples in liaison with technical department
* Provide support in management and control of accuracy of labels in terms of correct information, product, and accurate quantities.
* Provide support in ensuring that all cleaning materials and equipment is ordered in compliance with appropriate hygiene standards in line with annual budget commitments.
* Measuring performance against internal and external standards such as those maintained by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and under Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) requirements
* Reviewing existing policies and planning how to improve quality management systems
* Making recommendations for improvements
* Inspecting and testing products and production processes
* Ensuring that all quality policies and procedures meet national and international standards
* Ensuring all staff are competent to do their jobs properly
* Liaising closely with other managers and departments.
* Managing a team of quality technicians and ensuring consistency of approach from the team

Required Experience
* Understanding of specifications/quality requirements
* QMS requirements
* People Management
* Customer interaction
* Experience with Field to fork and Red tractor
* knowledge and experience of the food industry.
* Proven quality management experience.
* BRCGS - British Retail Consortium Global Standards [Knowledge of specific supermarket standards and requirements (rad tractor and farm assurance standards)
* HACCP, HSE, Safety and Legality.
