Part-time Payroll and Benefits Assistant // Manchester City Centre (remote initially) // 20 hrs per week over 4 or 5 days

We are working with a forward thinking organisation to support them in appointing someone to support the Payroll Manager on a part time basis.

The role will ideally be worked across 5 days with hours fixed to suit the successful candidate. There is the possibility to work across four days for the right person.

The payroll is between 250-300 employees and you will be responsible for:

  • Comprehensive payroll service, e.g processing starters and leavers, tax codes changes, student loans and other HMRC notifications, absence payments, statutory payments, and variations right through to timely, accurate payments
  • Dealing with payroll queries - through to resolving or escalation if need be
  • Year end responsibilities, processing P11Ds and all submissions including HMRC, RTI and BACS
  • Calculating SMP,SSP,SPP
  • Having comprehensive payroll legislation knowledge which is proactively kept up to date
  • Ensuring privacy, confidentiality and working with data under GDPR regulations
  • Assisting the Payroll & Benefits Manager in processing the monthly benefits in line with company policy and appropriate legislation
  • Analysing and process the monthly expense claims
  • Involvement with pensions and wide ranging benefits package

Applicants should have

Minimum of 3yrs sound, end to end payroll knowledge and experience incl pension auto enrolment

Whilst you will be used to working with payroll systems, it's imperative that you are able to carry put the full range of manual calculations such as gross to net , this will demonstrate a deeper understanding of payroll processes and legislation which is crucial for this role.

Ideas of how processes can be improved will be welcomed and you will be supported to develop yourself professionally and contribute towards ensuring that the payroll function provides exceptional customer service to all employees.
