Search are working on a really interesting role for an operations manager to join a family owned specialist sub contracting business based in Arbroath. The business has been successfully operating for 6 decades providing quality decorating services to a wide range of commercial and domestic clients across Scotland.

As part of a succession plan the business is seeking a high level individual with a wide range of relevant experience of managing specialist sub contractor operations in a role that will report directly to the M.D and involve overseeing commercial and operational functions day to day as part of the senior management team.

Duties will include,


* Site Measurements with current QS (site visits 1 every 1-2weeks)
* Measurements from drawings
* Checking bills of quantities
* Cost control on sites and management of on site operative production levels
* Setting target prices with a view to setting up a bonus system
* Recording of additional works carried out on site
* Liaison with contract managers/site supervisors to create valuations
* Creation of final accounts
* PQQs in conjunction with current Admin staff


* Management of accreditation's/CHAS, Construction line etc - assist in annual renewal requirements
* Buying/negotiation with suppliers/setting up deals on materials
* Improving and Setting up H&S system
* Audit of ongoing risk assessments/method statements
* HR/procurement of agency/sub contractors
* Support the recruitment of apprentices/oversee training
* Line Manager Point of contact for site managers for any personnel issues

This role would be suitable for an individual who has worked within the sub contractor environment, especially any privately / family owned businesses, it offers an involving, challenging and rewarding opportunity, to be considered you will need as a minimum to have:

* Operational / Commercial experience within a sub contractor environment (Ideally decorating)
* Sound commercial skills / experience - surveying / pricing / negotiation
* Experience of managing site teams across multiple projects
* Strong H&S Knowledge
* Good knowledge / experience of ISO9001 / 18001
* Strong business administration skills
* Flexibility and adaptability to meet business needs in an ever changing environment
* Full UK Driving License

This is not a run of the mill position as such the remuneration package offers inclusion in the lucrative company profit share scheme - full package will be:

£40K - £50K P/A
5% Business Profit Share (Annual) -circa £45K in best year to date
3% Employers Pension Contribution
40 p per mile for business travel
