Search Logistics are exclusively partnering with an international Logistics business in their search for a Logistics Manager to join their ever-growing business!

Responsible for the day-to-day management of people within the transport function including picking/dispatch within the warehouse, to ensure targets and objectives are met to meet customer requirements, whilst ensuring that staff comply with health and safety and standard operating procedures.

Development and enhancement of the transport and despatch department, improving efficiency, service and costs. Ensure full legal transport compliance and manage carrier integration relationships and service offering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that the quality of service within the transport/dispatch department is maintained at the highest possible standards
  • Support and develop relationship with the warehouse/transport team to ensure targets are met efficiently and within budget
  • Focus the team to deliver on time in full and exceed customer satisfaction and expectation
  • Manage a team to deliver and sustain all business plan and change activities on time driving continuous development in services offered
  • Shift planning based on volumes, reacting to peak period times
  • Agency manning to ensure shifts are covered in line with budget
  • Co-ordinate all trunking plans, KPI'S and resource costs in line with agreed budget
  • Champion change, share ideas and experience, lead by example at all times
  • Build the capability of the team through operational and leadership training, implement motivational techniques to improve performance and moral
  • Spot talent, provide mentoring and develop people for their next role
  • Maintain a legally compliant and safe fleet through fleet management
  • Maintain a legally compliant and safe driving team
  • CPC Control and Operator Licence management
  • Manage third party courier services ensuring costs and KPI'S are controlled providing a continuous source of engagement therefore improving the fluidity and relationship
  • Accurate and timely completion of all paperwork and record keeping
  • Ensure work allocations relate to priorities and that vehicle departure schedules are met
  • Ensure that all aspects of Health & Safety are adhered to, along with induction, training and HR related activity
  • To be aware of your own responsibilities for Health & Safety, operate in a safe manner complying with all health, safety and environmental requirements to ensure own and safety of others
  • Promote and maintain a clean and tidy work environment to ensure operational efficiency
  • Make recommendations to aid efficiency and add value to the department
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by senior management from time to time

Key Qualities:

  • CPC - Transport Management Qualification
  • Warehouse équivalent qualification (ILM, NVQ etc.)
  • Previous experience in a multi drop environment (final mile service) - carrier integration knowledge and ability to negotiate account set up
  • Previous Transport and warehouse management experience
  • Previous experience in warehouse management systems and implementation
  • Experience with route planning systems
  • Budget control and managing contracts
  • Strong customer service skills and a competent decision maker
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages and ability to adapt to bespoke systems
  • Current FLT and/or Reach Truck Licence is an advantage
