I am pleased to be recruiting for two HR Advisor positions for a fantastic fast-paced blue collar business headquartered in Derby with around 700 employees and sites nationwide. This business provides a simple but very important service which touches the lives of millions every week.

Reporting to the Senior HR Business Partner with significant access to the brilliant Interim HR Director, this is a very 'down-to-earth' organisation with a fabulous HR team to match.

This role is not for the faint-hearted - the Interim HRD has already identified some significant gaps in the HR provision, and so it is very much 'back to basics', ensuring that every employee is working under signed T&Cs, agency workers are fully compliant and historical ER cases are resolved promptly, fairly and pragmatically.

As you would expect of a business where the HR basics are still being put in place, there have been historical behavioural and cultural issues in some areas - with the support of the Senior HRBP and the Interim HRD, you will play a key role in putting these right, getting the business on an even keel and then contributing to the more 'positive', strategic side of HR. For example, once the foundations are in place, you will have opportunities to get involved in projects in areas such as Employee Engagement, Diversity & Inclusion and Talent Development.

In order to be considered for this role, you will need to:

  • Have the right to work in the UK and already be based here
  • Have experience of handling ER casework independently
  • Be confident in interfacing with stakeholders of all levels, up to Site Leadership and Management Level
  • Be comfortable in coaching line managers to lead their people more effectively
  • Ideally have some experience in a unionised environment (desired but not essential)
  • In a dream world, speak Punjabi or Polish (again absolutely not essential!)
  • Have a thick skin, a curious mindset and a desire to take the initiative to accelerate your HR career.
