Housing Solutions Advisor/Homelessness
Cheshire West & Chester
£14.46 per hour

Search is currently recruiting for a Housing Solutions Advisor for a client in Cheshire West & Chester.

We are looking for people with experience of providing housing options advice to members of the public following an assessment and carry out casework, with the primary aim of preventing homelessness.

To make determinations on homeless cases in accordance with Housing Act 1996 part VII (as amended) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.

The role is on a temporary basis. Working pattern is full time hours - Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm.

Essential requirement - delivering housing options under HRA, issuing PHP's, applying part 7 legislation and issuing related decisions on homeless applications.

Principal Responsibilities of the role:

1 To act as the first point of contact for advice, assistance and support to provide an efficient, friendly and responsive service to all customer and stakeholder enquiries either in person, by telephone, home visit, email or in writing.
2 To assess homelessness applications and make sound decisions, ensuring that the Council's obligations under the Housing Act 1996, Part VII (as amended) and the Homelessness Reduction Act are complied with and once assessed and investigated make decisions on the duties owed.
3 To review Personal Housing Plans with customers to ensure successful outcomes and.to prevent and relieve homelessness by exploring all options and utilizing 'prevention tools'.
4 To work in partnership with the Council's Contracted Support Provider to prevent and relieve homelessness, in particular ensuring that customers with support needs are referred for support.
5 Make referrals to, and liaise closely with, other agencies in order to provide appropriate housing solutions to contribute to the delivery of service objectives to ensure that the service contributes effectively to tackling social exclusion, worklessness, debt and overcrowding.
6 Arrange suitable temporary accommodation for eligible homeless households in priority need, preventing the use of Bed and Breakfast, wherever possible.

7 Continue to provide advice to households in temporary accommodation to ensure effective and timely move on.

8 Represent the Housing Solutions service at a range of operational meeting as directed by the Housing Solutions Team Leader(s).

9 Compile accurate written reports on all interviews and investigations and comply with service procedures.

10 To make recommendations to the Team Leader regarding Policy and procedural changes.

11 Arrange suitable temporary accommodation for eligible homeless households in priority need, preventing the use of Bed and Breakfast, wherever possible.

12 Continue to provide advice to households in temporary accommodation to ensure effective and timely move on.

NOTE
Notwithstanding the detail in this job description, the job holder will undertake such work as may be determined by the Manager from time to time, up to or at a level consistent with the Principal Responsibilities of the job.

This role is a Hybrid Flexible Worker and this means that the role will be required to work
either frequent or infrequent requirement to work from home or multiple Council offices or partner offices and there is a regular requirement to work collaboratively as part of a team.

Services and customers span across the Borough and therefore you may be required to work at any location in Cheshire West and Chester.
