General Ledger Accountant - Immediate start - Manchester

Search Accountancy are working on a exciting project to recruit for one of the world's leading FMCG organisations. At present, they have multiple opportunities available for talented finance professionals to join their General Ledger team.

The Record to Report (R2R) team within the Business Service Centre (BSC) consists of three departments, General Ledger (GL), Inter-company (IC) and VAT

The GL Team team comprises of eighteen people in total with the GL Associate role reporting directly into the GL Team Lead. The team have responsibility for ensuring timely closing of each period end in accordance with IFRS and SOX requirements and the assosiate will require a thorough understanding of core General Ledger and Fixed Asset end to end processes and continuously work with the team to identify areas for continuous improvement to drive productivity and strengthen the control environment across the R2R function

The General Ledger Associate is responsible for the following:

  • Fixed Asset closing
  • Cost Centre and Profit Centre allocations
  • Accruals and Prepayments through GRIR process
  • Regrouping of Assets and Liabilities
  • VAT Reclassification
  • Foreign Currency Revaluation and Foreign Currency Translation
  • AP/AR regrouping for a number of entities

To apply for the role, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Experience in an accounting related role -General Ledger/Financial Accounting
  • Experience preferably within a multinational company
  • SAP experience essential (FI and CO)
  • Excellent understanding of the General Ledger and Fixed Asset end to end process
  • Ability to adapt during periods of change
  • Good Microsoft Excel data manipulation and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
