Working in the company Data, Research and Insight Hub you will provide high quality, timely and accurate data and analysis to inform policy, process and operational improvements both within the Business and for a variety of key stakeholders across the UK.

Your work will contribute toward the company aims to support and develop a more diverse and inclusive medical workforce.
You will work closely with an experienced team of data analysts, statistical experts, researchers, policy experts and report writers to ensure the information produced is relevant, robust, and accurate.

You will use your skills in data analysis to identify medical trainee experiences which can be improved to ensure we contribute toward an effective, safe and diverse workforce.

Main responsibilities

1 To collect, quality assure and clean relevant datasets.
2 To interrogate quantitative and qualitative information to identify risk, issues and new insights, helping to inform managerial decisions.
3 To work with a diverse range of colleagues from different backgrounds to plan and deliver well-documented projects, whose objectives may include collection of new data sets, new analysis or interrogation of data and a new ways of presenting data.
4 Work with external customers or internal system users to identify their long-term information requirements and develop the appropriate reporting solutions and provide accurate, timely, insightful and informed reports.
5 To assist with the production of regular operational, performance and exception management reports.
6 To contribute toward the vision of being a fair and inclusive regulator
7 To produce high-quality professional reports, visualisations and dashboards, taking account of the customer's needs and the user experience. This includes a range of products from basic data tables in Excel and PDF to sophisticated data visualisations, using software such as Tableau.
8 To build strong, effective relationships both with internal colleagues in your immediate team and across the business; and with external organisations, who are suppliers of information to us and customers of our information products.
9 Produce ad hoc statistical reports and data for internal and external stakeholders, including Council, reference groups, change management projects, and senior management.
10 Carry out rigorous peer review of reports produced by team members.
11 To maintain and improve data quality, processes for data storage and retrieval and adhere at all times to information governance and data protection policies.
12 Any other reasonable duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Key skills

a Education to degree level in a numerate or research-based subject (or equivalent experience), and a good understanding of the application of statistical concepts.
b Experience of analytical software or tools, such as advanced Excel is essential. Experience of, SQL, SPSS, R, Stata and/or data visualisation software such as Tableau is desirable. Or a proven ability to learn complex software packages.
c Able to assimilate complex information held across multiple data sets and present the results in a format which enables non-technical colleagues to make decisions and take action.
d The ability to design and deliver information products (from basic data tables to sophisticated visualisations) that fully consider the both the specified requirements and user experience of the customer.
e Experience of planning and delivering projects involving cleaning and validating large data sets for analysis and reporting.
f Experience in managing or contributing to projects through the full lifecycle; developing project briefs, detailed project plans and product specification to deliver successful products which meet customer needs.
