Compliance Manager - Payment Services (PSD2)

Rapidly growing compliance consultancy are looking for an experienced individual to be responsible for delivering a range of financial services compliance solutions to its clients in the Payment Services sector. The individual will need to demonstrate independence of thought, a willingness to challenge where appropriate, be able to work within a team, be pro-active and maintain effective client relationships.

Key responsibilities:

* * Undertake Training and Competence visits to clients
* * Provide detailed audit reports and make recommendations to client of any areas requiring attention
* * Develop and draft compliance policies and procedures, outlining firm policies, regulations and best practices to create a Payment Services offering for external clients
* * Referral point for junior colleagues
* * Train and coach junior staff helping to develop the careers of team members
* * Support the Head of Payment Services to build, manage and motivate a team of highly skilled compliance professionals to ensure delivery of compliance solutions to the Group's clients
* * Provide a technical helpdesk function to the firm and its clients
* * Ensure knowledge of the necessary regulatory requirements is kept up to date
* * Review, challenge and approval of compliance manuals, policies and procedures, financial promotions, complaints and any other related documents
* * Support the Head of Payment Services in leading deliverables on projects
* * Support the Head of Payment Services in developing a comprehensive and aligned strategic business and marketing plan for the Payment Services division of the Group
* * Support the Head of Payment Services in implementing a strategic marketing and sales plan
* * Support the Head of Payment Services with responding to client and sales enquires to convert leads to new business
* * Attend seminars and discussion groups to develop your knowledge and promote the Group's services to other businesses
* * Analyse new regulation and legislation, identifying impact on target market and potential client offerings
* * Support the Head of Payment Services in liaising with industry bodies and regulators
* * Support the Head of Payment Services with responding to questions from both client and team members and reply accordingly
* * Provide meaningful MI and reports to the Head of Payment Services upon request
* * Miscellaneous projects as needed

Ideal Candidate Competencies:

Behavioural
* * Must be mindful of the commercial objectives of the firm when delivering compliance assistance
* * Should be adaptable to the changing requirements of the regulations and be keen to develop new skills
* * Should be able to communicate openly and effectively, both internally and externally, in order to deliver the requirements of the regulations
* * Must be able to establish and maintain trusting relationships with clients and colleagues
* * Must be able to work under own initiative identifying when referral needs to be made

Technical
* * Must have a detailed understanding of PSD2, Payment Service Regulations 2017, EMA and FCA regulation and be able to apply this to the business requirements of the firm
* * Must have a working knowledge of all relevant Payment Services regulations and have the ability to apply a risk-based approach to applying knowledge
* * Demonstrates an awareness of the immediate and the wider implications when applying regulation in practice
* * Must be able to prioritise and manage time and tasks effectively; this includes a readiness to delegate where possible

Experience/Qualifications
* * Educational attainment at degree level useful but not essential
* * Be familiar with relevant Payment Services and Financial Crime regulations
* * Experience of completing FCA applications useful but not essential
* * Experience of working with E-Money, PISPs, Start-ups, Merchant Acquirers, FX firms
* * Be a strong critical and rational thinker with a wide soft skill base directly aligned with the consulting skillset
* * Broad base of compliance knowledge
* * Be numerate, articulate, analytical and competent with all Microsoft packages
