A market leading business in the Media and Events industry is looking to recruit an experienced BDM with immediate effect as part of a growth strategy. This organisation have a far reaching network and footprint, and are synonymous with producing quality online and print publications, running industry leading awards and networking events, and seminars across several markets UK wide. They have an enviable history, and have a sizeable work force of professionals who deliver excellent platforms for their clients.
For someone with industry experience, and most importantly - a proven track record of success in B2B sales, a base salary to circa £35-£40k plus an uncapped bonus structure is on offer. Current BDM's are earning anywhere between £15, 000 and £25, 000 in bonuses but this is not exhaustive! You will also receive a car allowance, plus company benefits. This organisation are known for looking after their staff, and paying well, in what is a competitive and challenging market.
BDM OBJECTIVE - To develop a sales territory and thereby achieve the annual budget for that territory by increasing client spend from regular accounts and cold calling to introduce new clients to manage thereafter. This role requires the Business Development Manager to manage the current clients relevant to their territory in order to increase the revenue from each one and in order to ensure that they are being offered the full range of products. The product range includes event sponsorship and digital products including web site and email newsletter advertising, plus the sales of advertising and feature sponsorship within publications.
A typical week will involve meeting with clients daily, putting together proposals, consultative selling and all round relationship building. You will have internal support in terms of meeting qualification and marketing assistance, but ultimately you will need to be a self starter, adept at forging new relationships from scratch, and then nurturing these year on year. You will be home based, but will spend time in the office (Manchester) on a regular basis, and will cover the North West territory as a whole.
New clients are retained by the sales person and not passed on. This is what gives the territory manager / BDM the year on year growth that is expected. The BDM is responsible for ensuring that competitors are monitored ie for print, digital and events within the region. Feeding back intelligence to senior management especially if and when the market or trends are changing in a way that will impact on sales. This role is ideal for someone creative who can interpret the market and put forward ideas in order to maximise on market intelligence from clients .
