QC Laboratory Technician

Search Scientific are working with a key supplier of the Aerospace industry based in The North East. Specialising in producing & supplying technical coatings & materials to the Aerospace sector they are looking to hire 2 Laboratory technicians to join their analytical team based in County Durham.
This would be an ideal role for an experienced Technician to join a specialist QC team, or for a recent graduate scientist who is keen to learn & develop new skills.

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday: 08:00 - 16:00
  • 1 in 4 (average.) Saturday mornings as overtime


** please note that after an initial training period, this position may be required to work shifts consisting of either mornings (06:00 - 14:00) or evenings (14:00 - 22:00)**

Responsibilities:
As a part of the Quality control team, this position will be responsible for ensuring the quality of manufactured products against industry standards. This is a specialist industry and many of the testing methods will be unique so full training will be provided.
Key duties will include:
* Performing Physical, chemical & mechanical tests on finished products (i.e. accelerated weathering)
* Testing & approving raw materials
* Keeping detailed records, & investigating product deviations and customer complaints.
* Maintenance & calibration of laboratory equipment.
* Participating in continuous improvement projects.


Requirements:

  • A degree in chemistry or relevant field.
  • Previous laboratory or QC experience is desirable although full training can be provided for the right candidate.
  • An understanding of physical & mechanical testing would be advantageous.Self motivated, keen to learn & a strong eye for detail.
  • Flexibility to work shifts (likely to be 06:00 - 14:00 / 14:00 - 22:00) once trained.
