We’re delighted to announce that we will be supporting the government’s Kickstart Scheme and will be offering 30 work placements to 18-24 year olds in our Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Glasgow offices.

The 26 week placements will offer young people currently on universal credit, the chance to gain a valuable insight into the recruitment industry and the world of work.

The Search Consultancy program involves a range of activities and learning sessions that equip people with the some of the skills required to be successful in recruitment, as well as a valuable insight into the world of work.

Delegates will follow a structured program that will see them learn a wide range of skills

  • Recruitment Knowledge

  • Personal development

  • Time Management

  • CV writing

  • Interview tips and techniques

  • Communication skills

  • Teamwork

  • Wellbeing

Participants will have regular 1-1 reviews with their manager, as well as a Kickstart Review every 4 weeks with a Search Talent Development Manager to monitor progress and provide support.

What is the Kickstart Scheme?

Kickstart was introduced by the government to support 18 – 24 years old currently on Universal Credit ; creating 6-month job placements for young people who are at risk of long-term unemployment.

The paid 25 hours per week job placement should support the participants to develop a broad range of skills and experience that help them to find work after completing the scheme.

A participant will be paid National Minimum Wage.

Placements at any company are created solely for the purpose of the Kickstart Scheme.

How long does a Kickstart placement last?

Each placement is for a maximum 26 weeks; however, there could be scope for people to secure more permanent work if they complete the scheme and perform well in their role.

Kickstart participants will be treated as employees and accrue holiday pay during the placement in addition to usual public holidays.

How do I apply to the Search Consultancy Kickstart program?

All Kickstart candidates must be referred from the job centre and follow an official process created by DWP.

We have successfully applied for funding for up to 30 Kickstart placements, with more planned. If you are interested or know anyone who is 18-24 years old and currently receiving universal credit, they can contact their work coach at their job centre to discuss things further and gain a referral.
