Our milestones keep on coming, as we have another big anniversary for two of Team Search this month. Congratulations to David Armstrong and June Muir for an amazing 20 years at Search!

A little bit about David and June

David is a Senior Web Developer and works across the Systems and Marketing team to help manage and provide support with all of Search’s backend processes and systems. He even built Search’s very own intranet, Reach.

Based in our Glasgow office, June is Search’s Accounts Payable Supervisor. She has spent the last 20 years being responsible for the smooth running of accounts payable and making sure all costs are authorised and apportioned to correct areas of our business.

We caught up with them and reflected on life at Search over the years.

Q & A with David

What was your first day like with Search?

The first day was interesting. The Search website sat next to my desk, and all job applications came into a laptop that used Outlook Express rules to forward applications on to our consultants. To add to the mix, the previous web guy had to leave a week early, so I had no handover. But as the Marketing team always do, we pulled together to make it work – they’re a great crowd.

How has Search changed since you started?

Search has come a long way with cloud technology and for those long termers like me, will be happy that we moved from the dark ages of AS/400 screens to the mighty Trisys. I have been glad to offer support along the way.

How has your role changed over the years?

I was first recruited into the Marketing team as a Web Developer to work on building client microsites and manage job board applications for consultants.

Many years down the line, when West Campbell Street was the posh office, I also joined the Systems team where I used my programming and log filtering skills to support them with automating processes and solving performance issues. I really enjoy working across both the Systems team and Marketing team, as it gives me the opportunity to tap into my different skill sets.

What do you love most about life at Search?

What I love most about Search is just how driven and positive we are despite any obstacles that come our way. It’s this drive that keeps Search fresh and such a great place to work.

Q & A with June

What was your first day like with Search?

It was a long time ago, but I clearly remember it being very busy and very noisy. The whole of the finance team were in one small office back then!

How has Search changed since you started?

There has been a great deal of changes in the last 20 years. The company has grown, we’ve opened more offices and most recently rebranded.

How has your role changed over the years?

The role itself hasn’t changed too much, but it’s safe to say we are miles ahead with systems technology and a whole lot busier.

What do you love most about life at Search?

I work in a great finance team and over the years, I have met a lot of people who I really value as colleagues and friends.
