Search Construction's involvement has gone above and beyond the typical recruitment agency processes of arranging interviews between Manchester-based candidates and VINCI Construction UK. They are also actively supporting candidates with getting their CSCS cards (which qualify them to work onsite) and are organising sessions together with The Works to improve candidates’ employability by providing an insight into the skills needed for a career in Manchester's construction sector.

Search Construction even go so far as to supply successful candidates with PPE and meet with them on site on their first day to ensure they are fully supported and prepared for their induction with VINCI Construction UK.

Kirsty McErlain, Managing  Consultant with Search Construction's recruitment agency in Manchester who has been heavily involved with the project said, “We have been delighted with how successful the partnership with The Works has been in getting people - who have been out of the employment cycle for some time - back into work.”

“It’s not just the candidates themselves who are the winners here either. With 'Social Value' carrying up to a 30 percent weighting during the contract bidding process, our clients in construction are increasingly seeking to engage with the communities in which they are working,” she continued.

“Be it the long term unemployed, ex offenders, underrepresented groups such as women or ex military personnel, we have experience in helping clients gain access to these groups and ultimately deliver on their CSR goals – as well as gain access to great people.”

Danielle Doherty, CSR Manager for VINCI Construction UK, echoed Kirsty’s words, “We have been really impressed with the work Search and The Works have done. The quality of operatives that have arrived onsite has been excellent. In fact, we have been able to offer four candidates permanent positions so far and have given extra training to others to help them get PASMA licences.”
