Search Consultancy has partnered with Love Local Jobs and a number of Gatwick –based businesses in the launch of Be the Change - an inspirational programme to help local young people fulfil their potential.
The programme launched at the Charis Centre in Crawley for a third year running on Friday the 9th of November, with over 120 school students from six Crawley secondary schools. Led by Graham Moore – a former teacher who understands the challenges facing young people today, the launch brought together students and business volunteers to take part in activities that focus on happiness, confidence, hope, relationships and employability.
The overall Be the Change programme will involve a number of initiatives from school to workplace visits, followed by an awards ceremony in March 2019. The programme will be aimed at young people from Year 9 (14 years old) who may be disengaged at school or lack confidence in their own abilities, but who also have real potential once involved in inspiring and engaging activities and given positive role models.
Search representatives will be among a host of mentors known as business guides, working closely with Love Local Jobs to support the students on their journey. Through a number of school and workplace visits, Search’s business guides will engage with young people and raise awareness around the world of work.
The programme will shed light on the importance of individual qualities as well as qualifications, demonstrating to young people that (although not always academic) they are bright, talented and can have successful futures. Students will also be educated on the wealth of career opportunities at their fingertips – both in their hometown and beyond.
