Susan Clark

Operations Director for the Edinburgh Tram Project

"I joined tie in January 2004 as Senior Project Manager for the Edinburgh Airport Rail Link Project and there has never been a dull moment yet. tie has grown considerably over the past three years and it’s been an exciting yet challenging place to work with some fabulous projects. We are currently delivering some of the most challenging projects in Scotland with very high political and public profiles and this has been a fantastic opportunity for me to develop my skills and career. These projects offer the opportunity for people to be involved from the beginning of feasibility to the final delivery. I have been fortunate enough to be involved in the early design and Parliamentary stage of EARL and now in the design and delivery stage of the Edinburgh Tram project. In addition, I have involvement in some of our smaller but equally important projects such as park & ride sites and the Fastlink Guided busway - the first in Scotland! In essence, the past three years with tie have been challenging, exciting and extremely rewarding."

Howard Elwyn-Jones

Project Support Manager

"I joined tie in May 2005 as part of the support team for the Edinburgh Tram Project. It’s both exciting and challenging to be involved with such a high profile scheme and rewarding to think of the long term benefits for the city. tie is a stimulating place to work and supportive in developing its people. My role has changed a great deal since joining the company, allowing me to develop new skills and become progressively more involved with our work. The scale of what this company does is impressive, delivering some really challenging transport projects which will change the way people use the city, clean up the urban environment for the future and connect people to jobs. There aren’t many places where you can be part of making such a tangible difference and the motivated, capable people make it a great place to work."

Gillian Arnot

Business Relationship Co-ordinator

"I joined tie in April 2007 as Business Relationship Co-ordinator working on the Trams For Edinburgh Project. It has been an exciting six months and there have already been many milestones for the project in the short time I have been here. As work progresses along the route I have been spending time building relationships with the business community both fronting on to worksites and throughout the city. We regularly meet with various business associations and working groups to discuss different aspects of the project, including tie’s ‘Edinburgh’s Open for Business’ marketing campaign. There have been challenging times that have required me to draw upon my negotiation and communication skills. However, it is very rewarding to see the positive effects of the effort applied by the Stakeholder Management Team as businesses and residents throughout the city step forward to champion the tram project. It’s great to work in an enthusiastic environment where people enjoy being part of an historic project that will have a positive impact on our capital city and the way people go about their day to day lives. I look forward to the future with tie and I am excited to see what new transport projects we will deliver."
