Absolute winners

Plenty of places claim that their workforce is a winning team, in our case they truly are. We were the first Scottish Council to be named UK Council of the Year, the UK's first unitary local authority to be awarded a Corporate Charter Mark (the Government's award for excellent customer services), plus we hold Charter Marks for every service we provide.

And that's just for starters. In 2006 our Housing and Building Service was awarded "A" and "Excellent" ratings across the board (and was the first to be awarded two A's by Communities Scotland). Our Social Work Service won the first ever excellent rating for individual Scottish Council in 2007 for its impact on the community. The same year, our Education Service received four "Excellent" and three "Very Good" ratings from Her Majesty's Inspectors of Education. While in 2008, Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Education has awarded one excellent grade, 15 very good grades and two good grades for local child protection services - the second highest in Scotland.

Some would be happy enough with that. But being good isn't good enough for us; we're driven to build on our success and are committed to being the best we can be.  We're committed to making life better for the people we serve and we know that the people who work for us are key to realising this goal.
