The County Buildings, located in the heart of the town of Ayr, is the Council’s Headquarters. There are four key areas of delivery in the Council: Education, Culture and Lifelong Learning; Social Work, Housing and Health; Development, Safety and Regulation and The Chief Executive’s Department.

How do we make a difference?

Simple, we are responsible for a wide range of services, from ensuring restaurants are hygienic to running local galleries and museums. We deliver the services that keep the streets clean and help us to protect our environment. We employ the teachers and staff who educate South Ayrshire’s young people. We provide services to promote Lifelong Learning as well as operating libraries, leisure centres and maintain roads. We also employ the carers who look after the most vulnerable members of our community and provide building and maintenance services for Council housing and properties.
