Life here has a lot to offer, discover just how much over the next few pages.
A team that works.
As Scotland’s eleventh largest Council, we’re responsible for delivering the services that make life better to over 148,000 people. That’s why everything we do is driven by high standards and a vision designed to meet the needs and aspirations of the communities we serve.
As the region’s largest employer, we’re responsible for ensuring that we recognise the input of the people who enable us to realise our ambitions. That’s why we offer our 8,500 staff an excellent benefits package which includes a generous annual leave entitlement and the option of flexible working hours, as well as competitive salary rates.
We work as a team, working together to make a real and positive impact on the lives of everyone in the region. We believe that sharing knowledge and expertise is essential to delivering the best service possible.
Working here allows you to make the most of your skills. Whatever they are.
Life’s as relaxed as you want it to be.
Stunning coastlines, tranquil countryside, historic villages, busy towns – it’s all here, so no matter what your idea of the perfect lifestyle is, Dumfries and Galloway can offer it.
Set in the south of Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway covers 2,380 square miles (making it the third largest region in Scotland) and has plenty to offer. For outdoor types there’s world-class mountain biking, while dedicated shoppers can indulge in some serious retail therapy at Gretna’s Outlet Village or any of Dumfries’s high street stores. And that’s just for starters.
The area is rich in history, so there are plenty of interesting places to visit, while the regions towns are home to some great places to eat and drink, as well as all the well known shops you’d expect.
The area enjoys comparatively low house prices, low crime rates and low unemployment, combined with high standards of education and healthcare – a great combination in anyone’s book.
Add to this great transport links (the M74 connects England and Scotland, while the A75 Euro Route puts the Irish Ferry Sea Ports within easy reach) and it’s easy to see why life here is such an attractive proposition.
Whatever your job skills or experience we’ve got the job opportunities for you to put them to good use. There’s no such thing as a typical job with us, so whether your background is in gardening, care, teaching, IT, design, marketing, accountancy, social work or admin, (to name just a few of the areas we recruit in), chances are you’ve got the skills to be part of our team.
The job opportunities on offer change regularly, so even if the sort of job you’re interested in isn’t listed at the moment, it’s always worth checking back from time to time to see if the situation’s changed.
