‘Employer to Create Hundreds of Jobs’…etc – Oh, Really!?
Posted: October 22nd, 2009 | Author: admin | Filed under: Search | Tags: job news, Jobs | No Comments »On our daily research of job news in Scotland and across the UK, we’ve learned one thing. Be very wary of the sensational ‘new jobs’ stories that are appearing with ever-greater frequency.
While we, obviously all welcome every single piece of good news regarding new jobs being created, we need to remember that this helps create the problem – the ‘hyped’ good news story! While newspapers and news sites are desperate for good news, the wily employer or PR agency looking for cheaper column inches to promote their business/client is ahead of the game and is ready to exploit the opportunity for their own ends. Instead of a few new jobs, make it more – after all, if it goes well we will take on more staff, won’t we? The bigger the number, the greater the chance of getting a big splash.
Like I say, all good news is…well, good news. Let’s just keep it real. The natural sceptic element in us all (a healthy thing), should always ensure that we remember to read between the lines.
