Job Title: Registered Manager - Residential Children's Home

Location: South Croydon, CR2

Salary: £40,000 - £60,000 DOE

Hours: Core hours 9-5, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week), however flexibility required with the requirements of the service.

About our client

We are pleased to be working with a leading provider of residential accommodations for children transitioning from supported living to residential homes. With a focus on growth and expansion, currently managing multiple properties and has recently added 3 residential homes to its portfolio. As part of its expansion plan, they are now seeking a dedicated Registered Manager to lead a brand new 4-bed EBD (Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) home in catering to children aged 8-18 years.

What's expected of me as a Registered Manager?

Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, as a Registered Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the establishment and management of the new EBD home. The successful candidate will work closely with the assessments and referrals team to identify and select young people best suited for the new service.

Key Responsibilities as a Registered Manager:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the residential home, ensuring high-quality care and support for children with emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Lead and manage a team of care staff, providing guidance, support, and supervision as necessary.
  • Develop and implement care plans tailored to the individual needs of each resident, in accordance with relevant legislation, Ofsted regulations, and best practice guidelines.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with residents, their families, external agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of residents at all times, maintaining a secure and nurturing environment.
  • Manage the recruitment, training, and performance of staff members, promoting continuous professional development and adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Operations to set and achieve key performance targets, including occupancy levels, staff retention, and resident satisfaction.
  • Take an active role in the ongoing development and promotion of the new service, contributing to marketing efforts and community engagement initiatives.

What are the minimum experience requirements as a Registered Manager?

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 2 years of supervisor experience within a children's home setting, with a strong understanding of relevant legislation, Ofsted regulations, and best practice guidelines.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with a compassionate and empathetic approach to working with children and young people.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the service, including occasional evening and weekend work as required.
  • Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
