Are you passionate about luxury spirits and skilled in driving category growth within the retail sector?

We are seeking a dynamic Category Development Manager to join a market leading spirits producer in the UK. This role will focus on leading category strategy and development for their off-trade business, specifically targeting key retail customers like Tesco and Sainsbury's.

They are renowned for crafting exceptional, high-end spirits that embody luxury and sophistication. Their brand is synonymous with quality and innovation, and they continue year in-year out to deliver outstanding experiences to consumers across the globe.

Role Overview: As the Category Development Manager for the off-trade team, you will be instrumental in shaping and executing category plans that drive growth and market share within their key retail accounts. Your primary objective will be to optimise category performance, enhance brand visibility, and capitalise on market trends to achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement category strategies tailored to Tesco, Sainsbury's, and other off-trade retailers.
  • Analyse market data and consumer insights to identify growth opportunities and influence customer decision-making.
  • Build strong relationships with retail buyers and category managers to secure optimal product placement and promotional opportunities.
  • Lead category reviews and range optimisation exercises to maximise sales and profitability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Brand, Commercial, Finance, Activation) to align category initiatives with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor competitor activities and industry trends to stay ahead in the market.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to enhance product assortment, pricing, and promotional strategies.
  • Deliver compelling category presentations and insights to retail partners.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in category management, preferably within BWS or the FMCG industry.
  • Strong understanding of retail dynamics, category trends, and shopper behaviour in the off-trade channel.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with proficiency in data interpretation and market analysis tools (Nielsen/IRI, Dunnhumby, Kantar, etc.).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Results-driven mindset with a track record of delivering measurable business growth.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
