Careers at Centre for Health Science, Inverness

Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) have identified the Life Science sector as a key area for growth in the Highlands and Islands and is encapsulated in the Strategy - A Smart Successful Scotland - the Highlands and Islands dimension.

Research has shown that the healthcare and medical-related science sector is one of the most important to the region. The HIE Network, together with the Centre for Health Science partner organisations, have realised that the local healthcare sector in research, educational and business terms has enormous growth potential, not least to drive forward a highly qualified, high paid knowledge-based economy.

Alongside this strategy development and as a key part of pursuing its immediate aims, HIE and HIE Inverness and East Highland have been developing the Centre for Health Science. The project's aim is to develop a facility that will accommodate together some of the healthcare and medical-related organisations in and around Inverness in order to encourage their growth, interaction and innovation. This in turn will instigate collaboration, knowledge transfer, improved clinical outcomes, publications and commercialisation.

The project is being developed in three phases, and will comprise dedicated office and laboratories for tenants, business incubation space and a range of common and shared facilities including: two lectures theatres, a learning resource centre, seminar rooms, caf area, and clinical skills centre. Phase Three will comprise The Diabetes Institute within which will be The Clinical Research Facility.
