Marine Energy Jobs
Marine energy or marine power (also sometimes referred to as ocean energy or ocean power) refers to the energy carried by waves and the movement of water in the world’s oceans.
Many researches show that marine energy has the potentiality of providing for a substantial amount of new renewable energy around the world.
The UK has the best wave and tidal resource in Europe, an asset that has the potential to provide a considerable proportion of the UK power market in years to come. Coupled with this is a strong history of innovation that has produced some of the leading marine energy devices in the world today.
Scotland in particular is well placed to become a world leader in generating electricity using wave power and tidal power securing a significant share of the marine energy industry set to be worth billions and creating thousands of marine energy jobs.
As the industry is still in its early stages, most of the marine energy jobs, tidal and wave power jobs will be for Research & Development experts, mechanical and CAD engineers and engineering professionals who understand patents, early stage product development and proof of concept processes.
Assuming a company has the resources to support and develop their staff, there are very few reasons why an engineer from other industries could not learn the skills required to help them get a marine energy job.
Other marine energy jobs that are likely to be required includes Structural Engineers, Marine Environmental Consultants and CAD technicians.
