How To Get Creative With Your CV - Prezi
In previous Search blog posts we have explained how to spring clean your CV, looked at how eye catching extreme job applications can work and even how to update your CV with some help from Santa. In this blog we will take it a step further by introducing some great examples of how to use and create Prezi CVs to showcase your skills and experience. – also known as a Prézumé.
As the job market becomes saturated and increasingly competitive, it’s more important than ever for candidates to differentiate themselves. One way that is becoming more popular is to the use the visual medium of Prezi.
Prezi is an online tool that allows users to create more exciting presentations. The design features within Prezi offer increased opportunities to those willing to get creative. There are loads of examples out there of how this tool can be used for client pitches, interactive maps and general presentations.
Here are four of our favourite Prezi CV examples:
Mandi Linder - Why you want to hire me.
Pascal van Steen - PASCAL's prezume
Meet Iveta - FB Marketing Specialist
As well as looking great and really standing out, they are also fairly easy to create. All you need is a little bit of time, patience and knowledge on how the system works (there are some great educational tools available on the Prezi website). Alternatively there are templates that have been created that you can download and use here - https://prezi.com/prezume/
Although Prezi is a great tool in helping you get noticed there are a few things to consider:
- Not suitable for every job or industry – These will work well in creative jobs like marketing and design but may look out of place in a more serious setting such as accountancy or law. So just make sure this type of application fits the culture of the company you are applying to.
- Not a replacement for your traditional CV – Again not every job application process will allow the opportunity to upload a Prezi presentation. So be sure to maintain a PDF version of your CV
- Keep to the general rules of CVs – Just because this a different method of promoting yourself you should stick to the general rules of CVs i.e don’t make it too long, keep it relevant to the job you are applying to and double check for spelling and grammar mistakes
