Leicester Charity Quiz Night for Matt Hampson Foundation
Last Thursday 3rd October, Search Leicester held a charity quiz evening in aid of the Matt Hampson Foundation, the office’s chosen charity of the year. A truly fantastic cause, the Foundation provides help, advice and financial support for young people seriously injured through sport.
And what a night it was. We had amazing support from our clients, with some donating raffle prizes and others entering their own teams into the quiz!
Teams came from a wide-range of companies, including The Disney Store, Santander, My Home Move, Local World, My Wealth Management, Mercedes Leicester, RG&P Architects, Rock Kitchen Harris, Lathams and The Matt Hampson Foundation.
Our raffle prizes were very kindly donated by The Disney Store, Next, Joules Clothing, My Wealth Management, Lathams and the Matt Hampson Foundation, and what generosity… the total prize value was over £500!
With introductions and housekeeping done by Search Associate Director, Karen Orton, she handed over to Roy Jackson, The Chairman of the Foundation’s Trustees and Board Director for the Leicester Tigers Rugby Club. Roy gave us a real insight not only into Matt’s journey from his accident through to him setting up the Foundation and being an inspiration to the young people they help, but also into what the Foundation stands for, the kind of help they give these young people and the support the Foundation need through donations to be able to continue doing what they do.
After this, we moved on to the main event… the big quiz! I would like to give a great big thank you to our quiz master extraordinaire, Leicester Tigers Hooker and former England international player, George Chuter. George was entertaining and really got the room going. He controlled each round with humour and a firm hand. You could feel the competitive atmosphere within the room and the buzz and laughter from everyone taking part was brilliant.
At half time, we did a business card prize draw, with the prize of a signed picture of Martin Johnson going to Rob Reeds from RG&P Architects. Congratulations Rob!
The second half seemed to pass very quickly. Once the scores from the picture round had been added on, we had a winner - but it was very close! Starting at the bottom, I’m afraid to say that the Search team (aptly named ‘The Wooden Spoons’) came last! However, being the organiser’s team, the wooden spoon booby prize itself was actually awarded to ‘Three Geniuses and a Blond’. I will not report their company name to spare any blushes! At the other end of the scale, just one half-point separated the teams in first and second place. In second place, with 46 points, was ‘Jurassic Pork’ from Rock Kitchen & Harris, and in first place with a score of 46.5 points was ‘Bonkers’, the team from My Wealth Management. Congratulations to Ian, Matt, Andy and Karen – very well done!
Due to everyone’s generosity on the night, we managed to raise £500 for the Matt Hampson Foundation. We'd like to say thank you to everyone who took part and contributed – we certainly couldn’t have done it without you!
Special thanks also have to go to Pat and the team at Tigers, who ensured the evening ran smoothly. Thank you very much!
