Dashing through the… streets of Liverpool?!
This December, 17 festive Searchers took to the streets of Liverpool to complete a 5K Santa Dash in aid of Search Liverpool’s nominated charity, Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The day began with an early meeting at the Search Liverpool office before our 17 excited Santas descended en mass to the starting point at Pier Head. Dressed in Santa beards, hats and suits they waited patiently at the starting line, with sounds of “ho-ho-ho” and “Merry Christmas” echoing all around.
The gun sounded and it was every Santa for themselves… Paul Kynaston sped off into the distance, dodging Santa dogs and grannies as he went! Most of the Search Santas maintained a steady pace, although Kirsty Atherton, Rich Westhead, Amy Shaw, and Lisa Clifton quickly took to representing the walkers at the back!
Nominated charity Alder Hey Children's Hospital provided the team with green hats, which made it nice and easy to spot the Search crew amidst the sea of 10,000 other Santas. Over road, fly over, and pavement they went, rubbing their bellies and making a list of who'd been naughty or nice! Not even the sight of some skiving St. Nicks drinking at pubs along the way could stop them. The Search team stood strong and resisted the temptation to stop for milk and mince pies!
As the end of the course neared, the sound of festive drums filled the air; family and friends cheered them on, and snow fell all around. 46 minutes on and the final Search Santa had crossed the line, high-fiving an 8-foot reindeer as they went. Medals around their necks it was time for the pub. The team had done it!
Through their fundraising efforts, the Search Santas were able to raise an incredible £2726 for Alder Hey! The team are understandably delighted with this result and would like to thank everyone who donated and supported them on the day
