Search MD recognised as Career Ready's Volunteer of the Year
Simone Lockhart, Managing Director for Search Consultancy in Scotland, has been awarded a Career Ready Volunteer of the Year Award. The recognition comes just as Career Ready is due to hold their annual graduations ceremony in Perth, Scotland.
Apart from being a dynamic professional with a keen eye for business opportunities, Simone is also passionate about investing in the future. For this reason, the MD has been instrumental in mentoring young people with the aim to empower them to achieve a bright future in the professional world.
As a champion for investing in the workforce of tomorrow, Simone has taken Search’s links with education further. Simone currently serves as Chair of Career Ready’s local advisory board in Glasgow. In this role, she works with local schools and Glasgow City Council to give working class students an opportunity to spend two years with a business mentor and gain valuable work experience with a local employer. She is also one of 10 Search mentors in the programme and has recently been invited to form part of Glasgow’s Developing the Young Workforce Employer Board.
Her Career Ready mentee was one of the first five interns to join Search in the summer of 2016. At the end of the four-week internship, each individual delivered a presentation about their time in the company. Friends, family and business leaders all noted how confident, articulate and supportive each person was of each other.
When asked for her thoughts on the recognition she received, Simone said: “I have to admit, I was honoured and perhaps a bit overwhelmed upon hearing the news that I had been awarded the title of Volunteer of the Year by Career Ready.”
“I didn’t become involved with Career Ready for any other reason apart from how the organisation does great things for young people, increasing the confidence and sense of professionalism for such time that they enter the working world.
“I intend to use my time in the spotlight to champion the programme and the wide range of opportunities that it affords young people. Thank you. I am very proud of my own company for what we have achieved and how we support Career Ready.”
In addition to her achievements with Career Ready, Simone has also been shortlisted as a finalist for the Scottish Women in Business Collaborator of the Year Award, further demonstrating her firm dedication to working together with all areas of Scottish business including government, industry, charity and the wider communities in which she and Search operate.
