Search competes in Great Sussex Bath Race for charity
On Sunday 18th June 2017 employees from Search Consultancy’s Brighton office competed in the Great Sussex Bath Race fundraiser for two local charities, Chestnut Tree House and LifeCentre.
Conditions were perfect for Search’s team Deck Beef, with the sun emerging from behind the clouds in all its glory and the tournament being held at a picturesque private lake in Chichester, West Sussex.
Teams of four competed in a points-based series of three races, paddling their rafts around the buoy in the lake in a start to finish line of approximately 230 metres. Based on the number of points accrued from all three races, teams were then assigned to either the Grand Final or the Demolition Darby races.
Although Search didn’t make it to the Grand Final, they did have a go at the Demolition Derby race, where they placed second overall.
Stuart Furneaux, Divisional Manager for Search’s Accountancy & Finance division in Sussex and team leader in the race, said: “I am very proud of how my team performed and for our part in contributing towards two phenomenal charities that are having such a positive impact on the community.”
“The weather could not have been better suited for the event and great fun was had by all. There was a strong sense of camaraderie as we all had a good laugh together and felt motivated by the spirit of healthy competition.”
Setting an initial target of £1,000, Search’s team has so far raised just over £900 to benefit their corporate social responsibility partner Chestnut Tree House, a hospice which provides care for children who are terminally ill, and LifeCentre, a charity that supports women, children and men who have been victims of sexual abuse.
“Our fundraising page is still open for submissions. No level of generosity is too small or insignificant, so I encourage everyone to look inside their hearts and contribute in some capacity. You too can make a difference in your part of the world,” he added.
