Tax Assistant (Hybrid)

Join our client in the Higher Education sector as a Tax Assistant! This temporary role, lasting until Jul/Aug 2024, offers a hybrid work arrangement, based in Glasgow city centre with flexible remote options.

You'll work Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with a competitive pay rate of £12.46 to £13.70 per hour.

As the Tax Assistant, you'll coordinate import and export procedures for the University, serving as the primary contact for import agents. Responsibilities include maintaining accounting records, resolving import/export queries, and ensuring VAT relief through timely customs clearance instructions. You'll also reconcile import logs, allocate refunds, and liaise with internal teams and external agents.

Key duties:
- Provide prompt customs clearance instructions to shipping agents
- Efficiently manage the University's Import mailbox
- Maintain accurate data input and records for auditing purposes
- Reconcile import logs with HMRC deferment statements
- Collaborate with Finance Office teams for refund reallocation
- Handle enquiries regarding customs procedures and documentation requirements
- Identify areas of risk requiring support from the Tax Analyst
